Supreme Air Combat
Supreme Air Combat is a tactical/strategy combat game from the Australian Defence Forces.
You are in control of a set of four F/A-18 Hornets. In the beginning of the game, you position your fighters in formation in a green box at the top of the screen. Enemies appear at the b
ottom and you maneuver your fighters, trying to get them behind the enemy planes.
In each turn, you have 20 seconds to give orders to your planes. You can move a fighter in up to 9 directions, depending on its location. You mark the place where you want the plane to go. Once you have finished giving orders or when the time runs out, the orders are executed and the fighters move to their new locations.
Once you manage to get behind one of the enemy fighters, your plane will automatically lock onto it. A yellow box around the plane indicates a half missile lock, a red box shows full lock. You need to keep the enemy in the red area in front of your fighter for at least two turns to get full lock but once you do, the enemy plane has no chance of escape. Your fighter will automatically fire a missile. If you manage to get an enemy plane into the narrow, yellow area in front of your fighter, it will automatically open fire. It takes many turns of cannon fire to bring a plane down.
The game only has one level whith no options for changing difficulty or number of planes and as it’s relatively easy. You’ll start winning every time after playing for a few times. At least there is also a multiplayer mode which allows you to play against another iPhone or iPod touch over wifi.
The game has very nice, clean 2d graphics and some good special effects.
